New EYFS Starters 2020/21

Out Of This World

This term EYFS have been out of this world. We started the term learning about all the monsters in Where the wild things are and we had our own Royal Rumpus, sailing away to islands having adventures in our boats.

Next we learnt all about dinosaurs, investigating fossils and finding dinosaur bones. We even discovered a dinosaur fossil in the woods. We used our shoes to measure dinosaur footprints and learnt lots of dinosaur facts.

Next we were off to space to see if there really are aliens. We looked at all the planets and used Google earth to look at our own houses and where we lived compared to other planets. We used our maths skills to subtract the underpants that the aliens had stolen. We learnt about 2d and 3d shapes and built space rockets out of them.

Finally we finished our topic learning about robots and how to build them we all designed our own robots and wrote about what they would do to help us. We turned ourselves into robots giving instructions to our partners to move like a robot.

In each classroom we had fun in our role play areas flying into space in the rocket in the ladybird class and designing building and testing robots in the Bumble Bee class.

We finished our topic with a robot day bringing in our remote control toys to talk about and share with our class.

I wonder what we will learn about next term.
